100% Fishing !
It has always been my
dream to fly-fish for salmon. I send many faxes and countless e-mails, some
without answer and some with interesting replies. So, I called the interesting
once and I liked the reaction of Trembleur Fishing Adventures the best.
Schneider is the owners name and "to be a Schneider" after is also a German
saying that means the same as "getting skunked".
But who is
superstitious......
And I can say: BINGO! I made the right decision.
The trip in the Fall of 2001 was the 5th time with Michael so far and I am
already planning the next one.
During
those trips before my almost every wish came true: My first king on the fly was
a tooth grinding experience for me as the greenhorn of BC. During that same
time my son Tim was fishing with Michael's technique and catching one after the
other. Showing me that the river is full of kings. He was catching so good (11
one morning) that his arms where in pain from fighting all these fish.
In
Spring for steelhead, partly with ice on the rod tip. But honestly, is there a
nicer fish? They don't come easy but that's a big part of the
thrill.
Then
the July of the chum salmon. We saw them coming in waves and took bets as to
who was going to hook the next one with the fly. And with them came masses of
pink salmon so that you could feel them hitting your legs once in a while when
standing still.
Twice I
hooked kings that took my whole Teeny Line because my 30 lbs. backing broke.
Good thing the fishing in BC rivers is barbless only. (Now I am fishing with 25
kg Dacron for backing).
In 2001
the last pacific salmon was going from my wish list on to my hook. The first
impression was a narrow waterfall. On the bottom of it a pool full of fish and
they where constantly trying to jump up the falls. A scene I had only known
from TV. I probably would have stayed there for ever if Michael would have not
picked me up since the competition was fishing in the pool above. A Grizzly!
For the
rest of the trip I was always within sight of the gun......
Several
hundred meters up river we where standing on a bridge looking down in to a
large pool that was divided by a big tree laying right in the middle of it. And
then these shadows at the tail out: COHO ! Only a short time after I felt a
slight resistance while stripping in, I set the hook. Two, three jumps of a
silver phantom and ..... gone. This one got off.
These
where wonderful days with beaver along the river bank right by camp, coho's
that where willingly taking our flies and spinners. Watching Grizzly's fishing
within 15 meters safely with Michael's supervision and
instructions.
This is
also a very important point, why I decided for Trembleur Fishing Adventures,
you are always fishing in small groups and in company of a knowledgeable guide
like Michael or one of his guides. If a river comes up or has not many fish,
they just hook up the comfortable holiday trailer and move on to better waters.
If you want to get up early, the smell of coffee will awake you at 4:30 am.
When you come back at 10:00 pm totally fished out, Michael gets in front of the
stove and prepares something delicious. The service is simply
fantastic.
His
fishing knowledge is right up there. He knows his waters like the back of his
hand and I can only recommend to always listen to his hints and
tips.
I still
haven't told you about Trembleur Lake. The fly fishing and trolling for big
rainbows and lake trout, the dolly varden and the masses of sockeye salmon at
the creeks that put you in awe and make you forget to fish. The breakfast that
can last all day, the fresh cakes and breads, Manuela's cooking and and
and.....
I tell
you what, just go and see for yourself.

Often I think of our stay with you. The wonderful
days at the lodge in the beauty of nature and tranquility. Also the later part
of our trip with you at the coast and the fishing on the pacific have been
memorable times.
Our boxes of fish arrived well. Our friends and family have been
enjoying the delicious "Halibut". Manuela! Thank you very much for your fantastic
cooking and baking. The way you prepare such delicious meals in the middle of
nowhere is simply outstanding. Thank you Michael for looking after us during
the whole trip. You have been there for us in every situation. The fishing was
a success as well. We got a lot of large fish - simply super!

I really enjoyed my first visit to BC and just
loved the scenery and the fishing. Mark was great company and went out of his
way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. His job was made difficult by
some inclement weather just before I arrived !!
Even
though it was my first try at catching steelhead on fly I did manage to catch
some very nice specimens and also caught some nice Coho on fly. I would love to
return in the future.

........we learnt a lot about the
fishing, enjoyed the experience and everyone's company (except the bears) and
will have the photos to remind us.

"When I started my fishing excursion to B.C.,
Canada, I supposed that I would have some fortunate and successful fishing days
but also that there would be some days feeling myself a little lonesome as I
was travelling without any friend or partner from my country. The Fishing,
fulfilled my hopes completely . Michael Schneider, my guide, with a lot of
patience, taught me how to catch salmon, which I had never done before. He
provided me with unforgettable moments with the fish at the end of the line,
fighting and jumping out of the water until I was able to land it and release
it unharmed back to the river again. The loneliness which I feared, vanished as
soon as I reached the camp. The welcome and acceptance I got from Michael and
his wife Manuela, were extraordinarily kind. The fellow-feeling which showed
the Schneider family, including their two little kids was indescribable. I felt
happy during my stay at the camp. I loved Manuela's cooking and baking, the
nice conversation we kept during the late evenings, the fauna watching with
Michael and his comments about moose, wolves, bears, bald eagles and hawks. A
complete lesson of the fauna in B.C. Therefore I have decided to visit once
again the Schneider's at Trembleur Lake, even if not a whole year has passed
from my last visit as I do miss the warmth of the camp and the successful
fishing days.

Eye to eye with the salmon!
Who has
been there, knows what I am talking about and it will get you too. The Canada
fever!
My
first trip to Canada was in 1999 and after long deliberation, I decided to book
with Michael Schneider / Trembleur Fishing Adventures. What really won me over
was the idea of the mobile accommodation during the salmon and steelhead
fishing with Michaels nice Travel Trailer. River conditions can change
quickly, and so did we. That was the best decision I could have done. I can not
describe this feeling when I hooked in to my first salmon. The first jump and
seeing that very large fish at the end of my line, I think my heart stopped
right there. Since we fished barbless the tension was very high not only on my
line, but also inside me. "I hope I dont loose him". Every fish I landed
and held in my hands simply made me happy. And nothing tops a fresh salmon
steak done over the fire. I enjoyed this trip very much and Michael made me
feel right at home.
In 2000
I had to bring my friends and we came back to Michael. All seven (7) of us. I
must have excited everyone with all my pictures, stories and video so much,
that they had to see it for themselves. Everyone didnt just catch fish
but also the famous Canada fever.
In
2001, three of us came back for coho and they were everywhere. What a blast! We
have already reserved our flights for 2002 and are working on our wives about
2003. If you ever want to have that feeling a salmon or steelhead can give you,
Trembleur Fishing Adventures will take care of you well. They know about the
fish, the bears, and all the other things you have to look out for.

To whom it may concern:
During March of
2001 I decided I wanted to go trout fishing in British Columbia, Canada. Over a
3-day period I contacted well over 20 fishing guide operations in B.C. My main
"prerequisite" was, I did not want to go to a big lodge and end up being a
number. While many replied, none took the time to provide a personalized reply
to my questions, with one exception, Trembluer Lake Fishing Adventures. So
begins my incredible experience with TLFA.
Over the next few months I
exchanged well over 20 e-mails with the proprietors, Michael and Manuela
Schneider . They responded to each one in a timely and friendly manner.
My
experience: I arrived on June 12th and was picked up at Prince George Airport
personally by Michael. He then drove me through town to pick up any items I
wanted and away we went to his home. Since my adventure was solo, Michael and
Manuel were kind enough to invite me to stay in their beautiful home before our
departure to Trembluer in the morning. This was just the beginning to their
incredible hospitality. After a wonderful dinner-sleep-breakfast, Michael and I
departed on our all day journey to Trembluer Lake Lodge. The journey to the
lodge is a terrific adventure in itself! Crossing 28 mile long Trembluer Lake
can be a harrowing experience, but that's what you paid for!!!
Upon
arrival at the lodge I was in awe. This wonderful secluded lodge sits on a
small peninsula that leaves you surrounded by water on three sides. The views
are absolutely stunning. The amenities were exactly what I was looking for. Hot
and cold running water, with 2 hotel quality indoor showers. Built in Propane
lighting in all cabins. Two full kitchens and sleep accommodations for 8 guests
plus the Schneider clan!
Believe me, the entire family is involved in this
operation. While on my trip it was just Michael and I, if you can believe
that!, I can see on trips with more people how the place operates with Manuela
running the lodge and Michael leading the fishing and hunting part of the
business.
A bit about Michael (your guide): Here is the unbelievable part.
Michael took me on this 9-day adventure by myself! He did not attempt to
increase his profit by adding another group, which I know he easily could have
done. Michael truly wants to keep his business personalized and he does. I
probably asked Michael a question every 4 minutes we were there! ( I am a bit
chatty) He took time and answered every question (some twice) with care and a
genuine quality. I thought I was just "going fishing". I was wrong. Michael
educated me about Bears, Moose, Bald Eagles, the local Natives, and made me a
much better fisherman! Thank-you Michael.
Let's talk fish: You want big
fish? Go to Trembluer Lake! While I was there, Michael says the fishing wasn't
so good. I caught and released 40 fish over 5 lb. We caught a couple in the 10
+ category. If you like to fly fish have him take you to the creek to catch
some Dolly's. At Trembluer you have many options. The fishing is easy,
enjoyable, and you will catch fish!
Summary: If you add the 2 ½ travel days to
the full 7 days of fishing I had, TLFA took care of me for 10 days! I have
traveled all over the world and had been treated fairly well I thought, until I
came to TLFA. This was the first time I have truly relaxed on vacation. My
suggestion: drop what you are doing, come see Michael and Manuela, and relax.

"After visiting Sweden in 2000 we
decided to spend our holidays 2001 in B.C. After reading Michael´s web
page we knew that his camp is exactly what we wanted. And it was absolutely
overriding our expectations: Michael and his wife Manuela were absolutely
perfect, Michael's guiding and explaining (and we had a lot of questions J),
Manuela's cooking (arriving-78 kg, leaving in best conditions with 81 kg), the
kids and Michael's diving(!) dog, the nature around Trembleur, the wolves,
bears, moose and last but not least: FISH. Beautiful Rainbows and Lake-trout at
Trembleur, giant Kings and Chums at the coast. Hearing but not really
believing stories about salmon pulling out over 200 m of line we took our trip
to the coast. In the very first morning I learned what it means: Jogging with
my salmon down the beach I found that sometimes even 300 m won't do. After all
we learned a lot about fishing, nature and life. WISH WE WERE THERE.
